Fiberglass Poles
Fiberglass Poles
Our polyester fiberglass reinforced poles or FRP are an excellent replacement for structures made of traditional materials such as concrete, wood, and steel, thanks to their outstanding corrosion resistance and high durability. Our designs allow us to offer products ranging from 3 meters up to heights exceeding 30 meters, which can be used across different industry applications including public and architectural lighting, telecommunications, and distribution and transmission lines.
The main characteristics of fiberglass reinforced polyester poles are:

Lightweight
Excellent strength to weight ratio.

Insulating
Dielectric material.

Long lasting
Resistant to corrosion, humid environments, and weathering.

Eco friendly
Inert, making it environmentally friendly.

Reliability
Allows for structural design with repeatable and consistent characteristics over time.
Multicreto Designs
Our product development is based on our extensive knowledge of fiberglass composite materials and specialized resins, under which we design structural laminates with adequate strength and weather protection, matching and/or surpassing any design in wood, concrete, and steel.

Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester Poles FRP for Climate Contingencies
When facing a climate emergency such as hurricanes, extreme winds, or severe storms, traditional electrical infrastructure (such as concrete, metal, or wood poles) can easily fail or become damaged, causing prolonged power supply interruptions.
To address this emergency, Multicreto actively participated by supplying Fiberglass poles (FRP), specifically designed for climate contingencies and high-voltage transmission lines.

Hurricane Odile: how Multicreto helped restore electrical infrastructure in record time
In September 2014, Hurricane Odile, classified as a Category 4 storm, severely impacted the Baja California peninsula. With winds exceeding 220 km/h, this meteorological phenomenon became one of the most intense and destructive in the region’s recent history.
The damage to electrical infrastructure was critical:
- More than 530 high-voltage towers (115 kV) collapsed in mountainous areas and hard to reach terrain.
More than 2,000 concrete and wood poles were damaged or knocked down in urban and rural areas.
Faced with this scenario, the priority was clear: restore the power supply in the shortest time possible, ensuring structural safety, resistance, and operational viability under extreme conditions.
The solution: Fiberglass poles FRP of Multicreto
To address this emergency, Multicreto actively participated by supplying Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) poles, specifically designed for climate contingencies and high-voltage transmission lines.
During the post-hurricane recovery phase, more than 320 Fiberglass poles measuring 69 ft in height were installed, allowing complete sections of the electrical grid to be rebuilt in areas where traditional solutions were not viable.
What made the difference during the contingency with the use of Fiberglass poles (FRP)?
Thanks to their excellent strength to weight ratio, the fiberglass poles (FRP) could be transported and installed using light helicopters, with a maximum load capacity of 1,543 lbf.
This was key in mountainous and hard to reach areas where the use of heavy machinery was impossible.
While the installation of wooden poles could take several days and metal structures up to a week, the fiberglass poles (FRP) were installed in a matter of hours, drastically reducing the time needed to restore the electrical service.
The fiberglass poles (FRP) supplied by Multicreto demonstrated their capacity to:
- Withstand spans of up to 300 to 500 meters between structures, even on uneven terrain.
- Resist extreme wind loads and severe conditions typical of a high-intensity hurricane.
The fiberglass reinforced polyester (GFRP) poles are made of a dielectric material, which allowed emergency crews to perform operations with greater safety, even in live-line working scenarios. Furthermore, their corrosion resistance makes them ideal for coastal and humid environments, such as those found in Baja California.
